The thing is, girls don’t actually know themselves what they need. I’m sorry, that makes it even more confusing for you guys! But when your girlfriend changes her mind suddenly and goes into weird moods and maybe becomes distant and needs more space, it is because she is trying to work out what she needs, and whether things are feeling right. Teenage dating basically helps us find out from experience what we want later on in life. The main thing is to not take things too personally.

The best advice I can give to you, is to be patient. And one thing girls love- is taking mental notes. Little things like remembering what her favourite foods are, what she finds funny, that sort of thing. Little things that will surprise her.

Girls usually have many people harassing them in life. Parents are trying to tell them what to do. Teachers are always correcting their mistakes. If they have siblings, the siblings are usually a thorn in their side. Girls tend to really want and need a champion in life – someone to defend them and stand by them.

So be that champion. I’m not saying to stick up for them when they are obviously in the wrong. But try to listen to them, understand them, sympathize with them. Even a girl’s female friends are often subtly harassing them. Girls can be very catty. If you show you really care about her and take her side, you might be the first person she has ever met that really is in “her corner”.

When a girl calls you up, SHE WANTS TO TALK TO YOU. Not a 3 minute conversation where she has to make you talk. All she wants is to hear your voice, see how you’re doing, and if your thinking of her because she’s constantly thinking about you. Ask her how she’s doing, it makes her feel wanted.

If it does come to something where you do need to get off the phone, tell her you’ll call her later, and mean it. Because if you don’t call, that thing called trust will go down, and the longer you don’t keep a promise, the less she’ll trust you, which is one of the key things to a relationship.

PLAY with her hair. pick her up TICKLE her and WRESTLE with her. just TALK to her. tell her JOKES. bring her FLOWERS just.. because. hold her hand and run. just hold her hand. throw PEBBLES a her window at night. let her FALL ASLEEP in your arms. SING to her NO MATTER HOW awfull you sound. get her mad at you then kiss her. give her piggy back rides. PUSH her on SWINGS. tell her she looks BEAUTIFUL. when she is sad stay on the phone with her even if she is NOT saying anything. look into her EYES and SMILE KISS her on the forehead. slow DANCE with her even if there is no music. KISS her in the rain. AND WHEN YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH HER….. TELL HER

Guys are often raised to be problem solvers. But girls are often raised to be nurturers – to be there for others. So one of the most valuable things you can do for the girl you love is simply to listen. Don’t judge her, and don’t necessarily try to ‘fix things’. Maybe things can’t be fixed. Just listen and sympathize. Tell her you understand, that you are there for her. That you care about her. You can have 3 hour conversations every night where she pours out her heart. The simple fact that you are listening can be the most important thing you can do for her.

It’s hard being a girl, with all the pressures parents and teachers put on you. It really helps to know that someone out ther cares how you feel, and understands what you are going through. Be that guy. Be that shoulder
